Spice Up Your Marketing!

We are creatures of comfort.

When we find something that works, we tend to stick with it.  And, there is nothing wrong with this.... but it can get boring.  If you are bored with your marketing plan, I bet your customers are too.

We also live in a rapidly changing environment, so if we don't keep changing (and growing!) then we might soon be obsolete.

So, I challenge you to try one new thing in August.  I'll even give you some ideas to get your creativity spinning - and you never know... you might actually like the "new" way better!

First, answer these questions:

1.  How energized and excited are you about your current marketing platform?

2.  What is an marketing idea you have been reluctant to try?

3.  What is something really fun and different you could do to get your message out?

For those of you who want some "ready-made" ideas... here you go:

1.  Think of a new way to deliver your message on paper (a flyer, brochure, new tag line on your business card, etc.)

2.  Create a website or update your existing one.  Your website needs to be updated regularly to keep it fresh and also so the Search Engines will like it.

3.  Join a new networking group.  Shop around first.  Most groups will let you attend a few times before you must commit.  Pick a group that will help you reach your target audience.

4.  Update your logo and/or your tag line.

5.  Send out some letters or postcards to prospects and/or existing customers.

6.  Write articles and submit them on-line.    Articles are a great way to showcase your knowledge and expertise.  A great site to submit your articles is www.ezinearticles.com.  (Many of my articles are listed here and I attract new suscribers when they like what they read.)

7.  Call a local radio show and convince them they should interview you.

8.  Call a local networking group and tell them you want to make a presentation at their meeting.  (Need help writing your presentation?  Check out my workbook:  8 Steps to Writing Presentations that Get Results! at www.creativebusinessworkshops.com/products.html

9.  Write hand-written notes to people in your network.  Check out www.profitsinprogress.com to get your own hand-writing system.

10.  Deliver homemade cookies to your customers and prospects.

11.  Run a special or a sale.

12.  Hold a contest.

13.  Create an ezine or e-newsletter.  ( I recommend www.constantcontact.com)

14.  Run an ad in a magazine or a newspaper.

You get the idea - pick something you have never tried before and go for it!

What is the worst thing that can happen?  You won't get any response and you learn.

Best case scenario?  You pick up new business and you experience the excitement of trying something new!

Let me know what you do in August - I'd love to hear how it goes!
